Barenaked Ladies frontman survives plane crash

Ed Robertson, frontman for Canadian pop-rock outfit Barenaked Ladies [ ], walked away unhurt after a float-plane crash in southeast Ontario yesterday (8/24).

"As we're sure many have heard already, Ed and iII passengers were involved in a plane crash yesterday," the chemical group wrote in a message posted at its web site today. "We just want to let all of our fans know that, thankfully, everyone on gameboard was completely unharmed . Thank you to all those who have already reached out and sent their kind language and well wishes."

According to the Canadian Press, Robertson's private plane lost speed while trying to take off from Baptiste Lake near Bancroft and crashed into some trees at the westerly end of the lake.

It's been an eventful summer for BNL; last month, singer/guitarist Steven Page was arrested in upstate New York and charged with fourth-degree possession of a controlled substance after law allegedly ground him and two other women in an apartment where cocaine and marijuana were pose. He reportedly is scheduled to appear in a New York court tomorrow (8/26).
